Spring Cleaning Dos and Don’ts

by Matt Jensen - October 25, 2019

Spring is coming up in a couple of months, and many of us are already getting into the spirit of cleaning. The reason spring cleaning has become a tradition in many households is because people spend the entire winter season cooped up in their homes. Winter also makes us more lethargic.

When spring comes along, we feel energized, ready to clean up and prepare for a more refreshing season. But as you are spring cleaning, keep these dos and don’ts in mind for a more effective job.

Spring Cleaning Dos and Don’ts

Don’t: Clean Whenever You Want

Cleaning rituals needs structure. This is because otherwise, it leaves a lot of space for procrastination. Since people lead such busy lives, it becomes hard for them to make time for house chores—something or the other will come up and you will end up stalling.

Don’t: Try To Get it Done All At Once

This is perhaps the biggest mistake people make while going on a cleaning spree. When you bite off more than you can chew, you’re discouraging yourself from cleaning thoroughly.

If you dump out all your drawers, you’ll create a mess and end up getting drained. We advise to try and work in sections and take your time.

Do: Complete the Task at Hand

As we mentioned before, work in sections of the house—don’t bite off more than you can chew. Don’t try and move on to other areas of the house without first thoroughly cleaning the area you’re in.

If you don’t leave a space spick and span, then you won’t feel much of a difference in the overall cleanliness of your house— you won’t be able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. This is why we encourage people to take their time with cleaning; making sure everything is spotless before moving on to the next section.

Do: Ask for Assistance

If you feel too overwhelmed with the amount of cleaning that there is to be done, there is no shame in asking for help.

You can ask your family members to help out or your friends as well. If the mess is especially bad, then you may do well by hiring a professional cleaning service.
