Seven cleaning tips for perfectionists

house cleaning Falls Church Our job as providers of house cleaning Falls Church services means we’ve learned a trick or two that takes household cleaning to the next level.

Want those tricks of the trade? Read on…

Keep blinds dust-free

Arm yourself with an old sock, some vinegar (distilled malt is best) and a little water. Mix equal parts vinegar and water in a bowl, slip the sock over your hand, dip in the mixture, gently wipe the blinds and voila – clean and dust-free.

Home sweet home

Everyone know the coffee beans/baking bread trick realtors use, but here is another way to make your home smell amazing we often use as part of our house cleaning Falls Church services. Put a tablespoon of vanilla extract in an over-proof coffee cup and ‘bake’ at a low temperature for 45 minutes. Sweet as!

Barbecue build-up prevention

Now that the summer is here, chances are your barbecue is in constant use. If you rub the grill with half an onion, the cut side down, before cooking this will prevent build up. Do this once the grate has heated up. Put the onion on a long fork to protect your hands.

Spotless shower heads

To remove limescale from your shower head, fill a small plastic bag with distilled malt vinegar and tie it around the head, fastening it with a rubber band. Let the shower head sit in the vinegar for an hour and then wipe off the dirt and deposits. Remember to let the shower run for a minute or so before getting under it.

Tidy toaster

Toasters can quickly become grubby. Shine stainless steel ones by mixing a tablespoon of baking soda with a few drops of water, gently rub onto the surface and wipe off with a sponge.

Sanitize your kids’ toys

If your little ones have plastic toys, clean them in the dishwasher using vinegar instead of wash tablets. Clean and sanitized at the same time.

Keep chopping boards fresh the house cleaning Falls Church way

A mix of lemon and salt will deep clean wooden chopping boards. Sprinkle the salt over the board, cut a lemon in half and rub it cut side down on the board, squeezing out a little juice as you go. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes, then scrape it away. Finish by wiping with a clean sponge.
