Get Your Utensils Ready
If you are like many people, you have special dishes that only come out for festive occasions. This may be the “good” china and silverware and can also include special pans and utensils. If they have not been used in awhile, they probably need a quick cleaning or polishing before the big day. Get that out of the way early so they are all ready to go.
Pull Out Your Festive Pieces
Table clothes and napkins can be pulled out and pressed so they are pristine for the day. Also make sure you have any candles, centerpieces and stemware that you need. Don’t forget the cornucopia!
Make Your List
Get your grocery list together, making a list of things you can buy now and a list of things you need to buy fresh. Keep it with you and check items off as you get them. This can save last minute runs to the store when time is running out.
Shop For What You Can
Get the non-perishable items on your grocery list now and put them away in a separate area so they do not get mixed in with your everyday food. Stuffing, spices and canned goods can all be bought ahead of time. Also get your beverages such as wine, soda and sparkling cider.
Get Ready For Out-Of-Town Guests
If you have guests coming that will be staying with you at your Elkridge home, get out the spare blankets and pillows to make sure they are fresh. Make your plans on who will sleep where.
Do A Thorough Cleaning
Now is the time to get the deep cleaning done. Get your carpets cleaned and do a thorough floor to ceiling cleaning so that you just need to maintain it over the next few weeks. For professional carpet cleaning or help getting the house sparkling, call Budget Maids and we will be happy to be your holiday helpers!
By divvying up the chores over the next few weeks, you can alleviate much of the stress that normally comes with hosting a large dinner in the middle of the week. A little planning can go a long way to helping you be able to get what you need done and still enjoy the day with your family and friends
